A translation service – a process of translation that is aimed towards a concrete result of the one who ordered the translation, which results in a written translation.
A written translation service includes additionally to translation, a release overview of the text. According to the contract, it may also include semantic and professional editing.
In general, a written translation is divided into two subject fields: a fictional translation and a technical translation.
A technical translation – expressing information presented in a source language in a target language, among which are an extensive range of subjects (from business correspondence to highly specific professional texts), the accuracy of presentation and style of which depend on the purpose of the use of the translated text appointed by the client.
The purpose of the use of a technical translation:
An interpreter/translator – a person, who executes the translation (competency is chosen and checked according to the subject of translation).
A source text – a text presented by the client of translation service, which needs to be translated into another language. Preferably, it should be an original text, not a translation.
A translation text – a source text translated into the target language.
A source language – language that the source text is presented in.
A target language – language that the text is translated into.
A release overview – general checking of a translation text, so that:
Proofreading – rereading of the text by another person in order to check its linguistic correctness and comprehensibility.
Editing – comparing the source text with the target text.
Semantic editing – it gets checked, if the idea of the source text reflects correctly in the target text, if it gets passed on without the exclusion of some parts, if the sentences are logical, and the terminology used is uniform.
